Format

Choosing Sides
- When both players are at the game console, they must come to an agreement which side of the machine they will play on (who will sit on 1p and who will sit on 2p).
- If an agreement cannot be reached, a coin flip will determine who gets to pick their side.
Side and Character Courtesy
- As a courtesy, the player who received his choice of which side to play on (1p vs 2p) can elect to choose his character first.
- This is strictly a courtesy. A player is in no way required to do so.
- Winner must keep same character .

Capcom vs. SNK 2 (Sega Dreamcast)
Format
Double Elimination. Pool play may precede bracket play if the number of participants is suitably large.
Gameplay Rules
2 out of 3.
Random Stage Select.
Accidentally pausing the game at any time during the fight will force you to forfeit the current round. The only exceptions are in cases of “inevitable defeat,” such as pausing during a cinematic super attack that is guaranteed to KO the other character anyway.
Glitches that halt gameplay entirely (e.g. anything that causes the game to freeze/reset) and exploits that are only possible via hacking or modifying the game are banned. Other glitches will be judged at the tournament organizers’ discretion.
Character Selection
God/Ultimate Rugal, Shin Akuma, Evil Ryu, and Orochi Iori are banned.
Blind pick may be requested before a set begins in order to prevent counterpicking at the character select screen during the first game of a set. If blind pick is called, then both players must individually tell the TO the characters, teams, etc. that they plan to use for that game. Those choices must then be selected at the character select screen.
Winner must keep the same team, groove, and order unless agreed upon by BOTH players.
Any player using “Random Select” to pick their character, must “Random Select” again if they win the game, provided that there is no way to pick a certain character in the random box.
Controllers
DO NOT REMOVE THE EXTENSION FROM THE CONSOLE. We have a limited number of Dreamcast controllers available, so you are strongly encouraged to bring your own. You must bring your controller to the TO’s before the beginning of the tournament for approval.

The tier of Minigames available will be determined by the current round.

Gameplay Rules
- Single game. Head to head.
- 5 Minute Periods
- No Offsides, Penalties On
- No Line Changes
- Manual Goalie Control
Changing Goalies:
Goalies can be changed before the opening face-off and during play stoppages. You cannot change goalies during a face-off, or when a penalty shot is called.
Editing Lines:
Line-up changes are allowed at the following times:
- Beginning of the game
- When there is an injury to a player
- During intermissions
- When a time out is called (by either team).
If you would like to make a change at intermission, please notify your opponent that you wish to do, so they can allow you the time before the start of the next period. At the beginning of the game, both players can change their lines and the Home team gets the last change. If someone starts the game before the other player has changed their lines, the game can be restarted if the puck has not been dropped yet; just declare that you would like to restart before the puck drops. Please be fast when picking your starting line-up. One minute should be more than enough time. During period intermissions, we prefer you change your lines before the intermission, but you are allowed to change them during the intermissions. However, if your opponent starts the next period before you got the chance to change your lines, the game will continue, and you cannot change your line before the puck drops. If you try to change your lines at an unapproved time, you must revert your changes before play can resume. Line changes during the game should not take more than 10 seconds. Please be respectful and keep it short.
NOTE for SEGA players:
Due to a bug in the game, the exact attribute values reported in the Edit Lines and Team Roster screens are not accurate, they are only in the range of possible values for that player (other than weight, which is the correct value). So please do not spend lots of time looking for who is playing better that game based on those values, consider them only ballpark numbers.
Substituting for an Extra Attacker:
This is the only time pausing is allowed during game play. The goalie can be pulled at any time when the puck is in the neutral zone or in your offensive zone. You must have control of the puck if you are pulling him when in your defensive zone. You can only put the goalie back in immediately after a whistle (before a faceoff).
Tie Game:
If a game is still tied after overtime is completed, then the game will be reset, and play will continue until someone scores. (player injuries, penalties won’t carry over from the previous game).
